Update 18 July 2020

Hello all,
Because of the high count of the outbreak of the coronavirus in Sacramento county, as well as the related legalities, I have to cancel the CON.
I am sorry for any inconvenience caused for those who had made arrangements to come this year.  Let's hope for this virus to be under control for next years convention.
Thank you
Allen

Update 23 June 2020

Hi all,

Unless drastic changes occur in California with the Coronavirus, we are moving forward with 2020 US WiF CON with a start date of July 31sst the last day of play being August 8th. Temperatures will be checked daily and other precautions taken. At this time we have 9 confirmed players and only have room for one more player. One game will be played upstairs and the other downstairs. There will be a table set so players can order out food and eat here at the convention. They still can eat out, of course.

The CON this year is in Elk Grove, California and you will need to contact me for the location. So far the majority of players living out of town are staying at the Hilton Gardens Inn, 9241 Laguna Springs Dr, Elk Grove, CA, 95758, a bit more expensive but a nice hotel. I have recommended a cheaper choice at Travelodge by Wyndham, Sac/Rancho Cordova: 9646 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA 95827•(916) 245-1977. $66.40 per night (plus tax) or $756.96 for the 9 days (incl. tax), attention Rushanno. This is an easy commute to the WIF site.

Please be safe out there.

Update 2 May 2020

Hi all,

With the Coronavirus still causing closures, the 2020 World in Flame Convention has been moved from the Lions Gate in Sacramento to the Elk Grove area, this being south of Sacramento. Provided we will be able to congregate by July 31, 2020, the start date will still be on Friday, July 31, at 9:00 am. The last day of play will be August 8, 2020. Due to the virus, my sense is that this year's turnout numbers will be low.

Therefore, we would be unable to meet the conference space fees at Lions Gate. I am hopeful that minimally 10 players may wish to attend. As the cost will be lower than originally anticipated, I may be able to return a portion of the $200.00 play fee.

As for lodging, I recommend the Travelodge by Wyndham, Sac/Rancho Cordova: 9646 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA 95827•(916) 245-1977. 66.40 per night or $756.96 for the 9 days, attention Rushanno. This is an easy commute to the WIF site.

One drawback with the Elk Grove area, is that the closest accommodations are 2 miles or more, at a substantially higher cost. There are cheaper hotels, but a further commute. I have found a reasonable priced hotel fairly close by and easily accessed. You will need to email me for a listing of these pricier facilities.

Hopefully we'll have our CON.
