Hi WiFFers,
This year, the World In Flame CON, previously held in Michigan, will be played in California. If this event goes well, we are hoping to keep it in this state.
The start date is July 27, 2018, and the last day of play will be August 4, 2018. We will be able to start each morning at 9:00am and play until 12:00am.
To play, the fee is $175, covering the cost of the hall and game. The facility is located in downtown Davis with countless places to eat within walking distance. Those flying into the Sacramento Airport that may need a ride from the airport to the Hotel, can contact John R or myself. My email address is grandsonthor@gmail.com, phone# 916-685-5439 ( no cell phone) and John R's cell # is 916-849-3665.

I have taken a bit more time than planned sending out the results of this years US WiFCon. Unfortunately, I do not fully understand how to calculate the formula for listing the winners’ in order. I have asked for assistance, but have yet to receive some of the results. What was clear to all, is that Andrew Baird won the US WiFCon playing Japan and Italy. Everyone from all three tables was able to see a Japan as never before seen; from the early conquest of Australia (the allies take it back), to the Suez Canal, to taking Vancouver at the end of the game. It was indeed something to see. Steve Balk playing Germany on the same table as Andrew took 2nd overall place. John Reynen, playing Japan, (I played Italy) on my table took 1st and 3rd overall at the US WifCon. On the third table, Tom Fancher won at his table playing the CW and took 4th overall at the CON.
So far the feedback has been good for this years US WiFCon. I had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. I do wish I had had more time to get to know everyone a bit better, but we all know that War has its demands.
I want to also thank all of those who helped, as it would not have gone so smoothly without your assistance. I hope to be able to solve the few issues that did come up in order to make next year an even better year.
It was a pleasure to put on the CON and I look forward to next year.
I want to thank everyone, once again, for attending and all of the help provided.

Firstly, my sincere apologies for not having the necessary information for some of you on the Australian Design Group site in a timely manner . This is my first year hosting the US WifCon, with the hopes of keeping it in California, and I am more than happy to do so. Having not yet met Harry Rowland, and not wanting to impose myself on him, I thought someone else would have made contact with regards to the Con. I only had one place on which I could post and that was the wifdicussion@yahoogroups.com site. Now, thanks to meeting Harry online and becoming aware of the blog, I will be monitoring it and keeping you all updated for next year’s US WiFCon.
Mr. Rob Anderson, please send me your email address and you will be informed of date and times for 2019 US WiFCon, adding you directly to my list. You can contact me at grandsonthor@gmail.com. If circumstances permit, please feel free to drop by the Con.
Mr. Robert Norse, there is no charge to observe the CON. However, unfortunately there will be no Australia Design Group merchandise for sale as I am already in the hole on this project. Still getting my feet wet, I am very excited about this year’s convention, welcoming any and all feedback. Looking forward to meeting the participants for 2018.
Thank you Harry and all others for your patience.

If one is interested in observing or simply purchasing, does one have to pay an entrance fee to get in?
